Municipal Election 2023

MUNICIPAL ELECTION –
CITY OF NEW SHARON IOWA 2023  

     This November 2023 the City of New Sharon, Iowa will be holding our municipal election.

     For this year’s election there will be three (2) Council seats and (1) Mayor seat on the ballot, the Council members and Mayor both hold 4-year terms.

     The Council seats that will be on the ballot are currently held by Larry Applegate and Ron Wyatt.   The mayor seat on the ballot is currently held by Jeff Long. The Council members and Mayor elected will begin their service as of January 1st 2024.

     Candidates must be eligible electors of the City of New Sharon, Iowa. That means you must reside within the New Sharon City Limits, be a US citizen, be of legal voting age, and have not been convicted of a felony or other infamous crime for which your rights have not been restored by the Governor of the State of Iowa or the President of the United States.

     Each candidate must file an affidavit of candidacy and nomination petitions with the City of New Sharon, 101 S. Main St, New Sharon, IA.  The affidavit of candidacy and nomination petitions may be filled out now, but they must be turned in to the New Sharon City Hall office no earlier than Monday August 28th, or no later than Thursday September 21st 5:00 pm.

     All City of New Sharon residents vote at the New Sharon City Park Building, 108 N. Pearl, New Sharon, IA.  The polls will be open November 7th 2023 from 7:00 am to 8:00pm.
