Below is a note of thanks that we received in 2015: (our top pick)
I hope you can share my thoughts of appreciation with all of your wonderful neighbors in your town of New Sharon. This past weekend (4/18/15) I was traveling by your town with one of my teenage daughters and one of my young grand children. My car broke down about 5-6miles from New Sharon on hwy 63. Of course the car stopped in a very bad place/position on the highway. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Smith turned around to help us. Mr. Smith helped push my car with my grandchild still inside for her safety about 20 yards back. Where we would be safe from highway traffic. That does not slow down; I have to say. I explained to Mr. & Mrs. Smith that I could not get a tow company to answer my phone calls. I spoke with the Sheriff’s department but didn’t feel I needed a deputy. Mr & Mrs. Smith looked up on their phone their mechanic and friend, Mr. Phil. I called him and explained that even though I appreciate him answering my call, I wouldn’t leave my children behind while he towed my car and me into town. Mr. Phil understood and asked for his son’s assistance with a 2nd vehicle. Both men came to our rescue. They were so polite so helpful just as Mr. & Mrs. Smith were. Once we were inside your town of New Sharon. Mr. Phil suggested we get some lunch and rest at Scooter’s. When we arrived there. We explained to our waitress that we were broke down and may have to stay a little while until our family came to our assistance. Our waitress, like everyone else. Was so polite and so understanding. She showed us that even my grand daughter could change their sports channel to Disney if she wanted to along with books and crayons, toys, etc. We did eventually walk to your little park and released a lot of bottled up energy from my grand daughter. It began to rain so we ended up back at the broke down car. Where another gentleman living close by seemed to keep an eye on us. Maybe to make sure we were in fact okay. When our family did arrive with another trailer to take us home, that same gentleman neighbor and his son came across the street to help push my car onto the trailer. We couldn’t have done that by ourselves. To all of your neighbors, friends and families of New Sharon….Thank you from the bottom of hearts!! We couldn’t have picked a better, friendlier or safer place to be broke down in a very bad way. You must be or should be so proud of your people in your town and I can’t stop telling our friends and neighbors just how great of town yours is.
Thanks again for everything!!!
